Transfer Your Web Hosting

If your website and mail are currently hosted by another provider, our staff will ensure your hosting is transferred across to Westnet with little (if any) downtime. This is done by extensive preparations before any live changes are made to your website or mail. Our aim is for your hosting to be moved across to Westnet without any indication to your users or customers that a change has been made.

The best way to ensure a quick and successful transfer of your hosting is to provide us with all the information we will need to complete the process up front.

Information needed for a transfer

Website Content
The files and images of your website will need to be placed on our server for your website to be hosted with us. These can be obtained from your current hosting provider (with FTP login details) or sent to us through another method (such as email or on CD).

Domain Login Details
The login details for your domain name may include a Domain Password (sometimes called AuthInfo), a Domain Registry Key or a username and password. This is necessary for us to point your domain name to Westnet's servers. Alternatively you can make this change yourself and we will provide details on what changes are required.

Email Addresses
A list of any existing email addresses on your domain and their passwords (if known) so they can be created on our server in preparation for the live transfer of your hosting.

If you do not have any of these items at the time you submit your application, our staff members will guide you through the process of obtaining these details once we receive your hosting application.

If you would like your hosting transferred at a specific time or day (such as close of business on a Friday) we are quite happy to arrange this for you. Scheduling the hosting transfer for a time when your business isn't normally active can further reduce any possible downtime during the transfer. We can also offer a means to test your website on our server before moving your live website to Westnet (such as using a http://test.domainname.com/ address).
