All Westnet Hosting plans include Domain Name Server (DNS) hosting, however if you have special hosting requirements the DNS Hosting plan gives you the flexibility and control to manage your DNS zone files.

The DNS hosting service is ideal for domain owners looking to host their own web or mail server. Customers hosting their own servers also require a static IP address.

What You Get
DNS Hosting provides stable and reliable Primary and Secondary DNS servers and with access to our easy to use Control Panel, you are able to update your DNS records such as A records, CNAME and MX in real-time.

Pricing
DNS Hosting is $25.00 per domain per year.

Combinations
If you are hosting your own mail server, we can provide a backup service which will hold your email in the event your mail server becomes unavailable. Once your mail server is back online we send any email which normally would have bounced, back to your mail server.

This service is called Mail Relay and can be combined with DNS Hosting for full DNS management and Mail Backup services

We can also still provide Antispam and Antivirus services if you are hosting your own mail server. Filtering viruses and spam before they are sent to your mail server has proved a valuable service to many small business server owners.

Mail Relay

If you are hosting your own mail server in-house, Mail Relay is the service of pointing email to your mail server and providing a mail backup service should your mail server become unavailable. Mail Relay suits customers hosting their own mail server in-house.

What You Get
Mail MX records are setup to point to your mail server IP address and backup services are supplied for up to five days should your mail server become unavailable.

$65.00 per domain name per annum.

Combinations
For control and flexibility, it is advised the Mail Relay service is combined with our DNS Hosting service, if you are not already hosting your website with Westnet. All Westnet Web Hosting plans include DNS hosting and provide access to our Control Panel where DNS records can be maintained, so if you haven't combined Mail Relay with a Web Hosting plan we advise combining Mail Relay with the DNS Hosting plan to enable access to your DNS zone file

Secondary DNS Hosting

All domain names which are hosted require Primary and Secondary DNS Hosting. All Westnet Hosting plans provide these services free of charge, however if you have your own hosting infrastructure you may be hosting your own Primary DNS. A secondary DNS is required for domain name stability and should be hosted on a separate network to the Primary DNS.

Who secondary DNS Hosting Suits

Customers who host their own Primary DNS will utilise the Secondary DNS service. Providing additional secondary DNS improves the reliability of your domain should your Primary DNS become unavailable.
